The fairground came, the tents went up
Along the village green
The music played as children laughed
At this wonderful yearly scene
But then the grown ups got their chance
When the Marquees were erected
They proudly took their handicrafts
Knowing they would be protected
The following morning the sun shone hot
As the cars parking quickly filled the lot
So many things to see and hear
So many stalls and a tent with beer
And as the exhibitors walked around
Feeling excited their hearts apound
Would they get a prize or not?
Oh if only the weather wasn't so hot!
With cycle racing and runners too
And camels that caused such a hullabaloo
The Minden Band that played so well
And from the sky the Parachutes fell
Then we went to the tent and to our surprise
We found our exhibits had won second prize
We walked round again till we just had to go
But how we enjoyed our first Heckington Show!
